The 1947 T.C.C. golfers, although hampered in pre-season practice by rain, snow, and wet grounds, holed-out a 3-2 won-lost tally for the round of games. lt was the best T.C.C. team record in 1947 spring sports. T.C.C. golfers overpowered Hartwick College 15Y2-2Y2 at home, on the E. J. course, and was again victorious 12-6 over Hartwick on the Oneonta Golf course. T.C.C. outclassed the Utica College sextet 1ZY2-2Y2 in a match played during a cold driving rain on the home E. J. course. Both losses were at the hands of a crack team from Cortland State Teachers College coached by Tony Tesani. George Mercer and Fred Sanges were T.C.C.'s two top men and bore the brunt of the teams' attack with their consistently good golf. More than once they scored in the 70's. 109
