The 1939 edition of the Colgate freshman basketball team, under coach J. Leslie Hart, had a fairly successful season averaging nearly .500 in winning five of its eleven scheduled contests. Unlike last year's fLve, the green-lidders started out in great fashion, but toward the end of the season, they sho, ed strain of the hardest schedule in recent years. Bucknell Junior College was the first victim of the yearling repr sentative of the 1\la– roon, but the score 43-41, shows that it was a real contest. The winning basket of the game ' as scored b Bob Taft, a promising prospect, who tossed a sensational one-hander through the hoop just as the game ended . The first. snag in the freshman tossers' schedule was the surprise vidoi'.Y of the Cornell five who gained a 35-30 decision on Colgate's home court. However, that loss was partly avenged when the Young Raiders t.umcd back a Morrisville Aggie team, 47-27.
