CLASS PROPHECY Thomas A. Edison was a man who made use of the Lamp of Opportunity. There are many things in our everyday living that are commomplace that Mr. Edison invented. He took advantage of every opportunity that came his way. In fact, he probably made some opportunities to do some of the things he did. Let's take a peek into the future (twenty years from now) and see how the members of this class are using the Lamp of Opportunity in their lives. Billy Banks runs Foote's Grocery Store now. However, the name has been changed to Billy's Grocery Store. Elanda Archer is still struggling through Ouachita. Her marriage plus five children contributed to the struggle. Phil Barnes has finally taken sawmilling seriously and has employed Randy McDonald as forester. Like fathers, like sons! Sandra Bellott is married to a guitar player in Las Vegas. She has two bouncing little boys. Clara Mansfield is a speed car race driver in Indianapolis, Indiana. Taking the place of Mrs. Crews as sponsor of The Hamburger is Shirley Forrest. Fran Westmoreland is trying to take Emily Post's place as an authority on etiquette. Carl Woods has donated his famous masterpiece, Secrett, to dear old HHS in honor of the Class of '65. Wanda Hennington and her monkey are agents for the FBI and will probably go on to become directors of the bureau. Following their love for horses and excitement, Butch Hill and Jack War.e are now the most famous rodeo clowns in the world. Donald Jeffers has followed his designing abilities and is an outstanding architect. Robert Leasure started out as a printer's devil and worked his way up to editor-in-chief of New York's largest daily paper. J olmny and Travis Knight put their two heads together and discovered a new powerful missile fuel far better than anything known or used today. Judy Martin has become an outstanding geologist. Janice Murphy has been accompanying her on her expeditons. Her main problem: To marry or not to marry! David Moyers has returned to take Mrs. Phillips' place as head of the science department at Hamburg High. Dale High is now a well-known electronic engineer at Cape Kennedy. Johnsie McCarver has worked her way up to become president of an exclu– sive all-girls college in the middle west. Kathryn Norrell, Cheryl McNeice Bellott, Sherry Rice, Diane Sammons, LaNell Thornhill, and Barbara Rowe Willis are all happily married, have raised their children, and are now enjoying their grandchildren. Alcon Barfield has made good use of his trading abilities and is the owner of a General Motors car agency. Sammie and Willie Reeves, along with James Roberts, own a big farm oper– ation near Mist. Peggy Wallace is their bookkeeper. Billy Blocker recently bought the Mist Grocery. He hired Byron Cook and Royce Culp to help him. Ann Higginbotham is dancing on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. 29
