YELLOWJACKET 1971 Sheridan High School Sheridan, Arkansas Volume XXXIV

In Memory of Lavenia Allison Remember ~e when I am gone away, Gone far away into the silent land; When you can no more hold me by the hand, Nor 1 half turn to go, yet turning stay. Remember me when no more, day by day, You tell me of our future that you planned; Only remember me; you understand lt will be late to counsel then or pray. Yet if you should forget me for a while And afterward remember, do not grieve; For if the darkness and corruption leave A vestige of the thoughts that once I had, Better by far you should forget and smile Than that rou should remember and be sad. Our A merican Way 4 A high school is a special world all of its own, sep– arate and apart from anything else. The time for the opening of this world is the last of August, and the time for c 1o sing is the last of May; but in between these dates, time is taken up with classes, sports and other special events. The citizens of this world are the stu– dents and faculty. The location is Sheridan, Arkansas: In a limited amount of space , we, the editors and staff of the 1971 YELLOWJACKET, would like to stop the clock one year in this world known as Sheridan High and show its citizens and the times of its activi– ties. Therefore, we give to you "Our American Way at SHS, 1971. "

6 SHS Way Football, basketball, senior rings, un– satisfactory progress slips: a way centered around this place where we take up space and waking hours. We even wave flags and some of us paint bursting dream \·.rorlds , some sit on the sidelines and just get by; then it's Friday. Friday means football and basketball games, dates and dances. Fri– day is a waited for day after the long hard week of continous studying and work.
