In city play, the Angels won all eight league games, setting a record for most points scored in a single game. For outstanding city play, Chris Babbs, Sam Batey, and Tom Mc– Cann were awarded All-City recognition. In the state tournament, the team beat Longmont and Pueblo South to face favored Greeley in the finals. Before a turnaway crowd at the Coliseum, the Angels fought to a thir– teen point lead at the half, only to see it dis– appear in the final quarter. In a heartbreaking finish, Greeley's height and aggressiveness proved too much, and East lost 66-64. In post-game balloting by sports writers and coaches, Chris Babbs, Sam Batey, and Tom McCann were named All-State also. East's all-state Chris Babbs fights for o shot os East defeated South 71 to 4 7.
