Marksmen Participate In lnterschool Meets The East High Rifle team participated in several matches this year. One of the main matches was the Fifth Army meet. The Fifth Army consists of teams from 13 states in the North Central part of the United States. All the teams in this orea qualify at the ir own schools, and the teams ranking in the upper third of all these schools are entitled to com– pete in the National meet. In the spring the National Rifle Associa– tion matches were held . These matches con – sisted of intra-state rifle and pistol competi – tion . They were held at Manual high school. The other matches in which the team par– ticipated were the William Randolph Hearst Memorial Trophy match, the Junior Sectional tournament and the National Interscholastic match. The team members were: George Hollis, Valdis Zebauers, Lowell Hinman, Dave Ed– wards, Wayne Stiefvater and Bob Ford.
