Talented Girls Rise to the Top The year started off with the Varsity Cheerleaders attending a camp for cheerleaders at East Lake High. They participated in learning new techniques and skills . "The camp was a lot of fun," commented Mary Cappelli. She continued, " I enjoyed myself and learned a lot, too.'' The cheerleaders spent three and four days a week practicing for the competition. "Preparing for competition was hard work and we had to make extra time for practice," said Shannon Greene, "but all the hard work paid off." "I didn't think we were going to win," said Mary. She continued, "We did really well, and we took home a trophy for 1st place." The Varsity Cheerleaders received a 120 • Sports/Varsity Cheerleading .. " I have had some of the girls since their freshman year," stated Mrs. Hilderbrand, " And so I was able to watch them grow into an award winning team, perhaps the best." -Rich Woody
