United They Stand Girls' Track Team Works Together Pushing yourself to the limit; and reaching your own personal goal potential. These were the themes of this year's Girls' Track team. "The thing that I enjoy most about coaching is helping athletes develop discipline and training techniques that are necessary to reach their goals," stated Coach Robb Townsend. The rigorous practices consisted of aerobic training, speed training, and studying techniques and strategies of running. "My goals for the team this year are to win more dual meets and to qualify more athletes for the state competition," explained Coach Townsend. Not only were team goals a focus, but also, the personal goals of each runner were considered. The spirit of togetherness permeated the girls' attitudes. They knew that they could count on one another. "We help each other when one of us feels that we can't go on," stated Mary Cappelli. "Our team is fully spirited, and our enthusiasm is endless." The girls worked hard to reach their personal goals, but they also learned how to be competitive. Most of all, the girls stuck together and demonstrated that by being united, they could accomplish anything. - Stephanie Todd
