Enthusiasm Counts Experience Makes The Team They stared at their opponents with the eyes of a predator in the midst of a hunt. They were the Varsity Wrestlers. "We have a lot of talent this year," said Jack Oliver, "We expect to have some seniors make it to the state competition again." "We have a lot more experience this year and should win a lot more matches," agreed Isaac Shedrick. The difference between this year's team and last year's was that most of the same people returned. The players felt better about themselves and had more confidence in their fellow teammates. "The team is more dedicated this year and is eager to learn more," said Jeff Robinson. "They love to lift weights and do not mind running," said Coach 152 • Sports/Varsity Wrestling Alvin Davis. Coach Davis, after 21 years of coaching wrestling, believed this was one of his best teams. "They make wrestling a part of their lives," added Coach Davis. "I do not mind being worked hard, and Coach Davis does not mind working us hard," said Isaac. "He knows we need to be fit, both mentally and physically," he said. Coach Davis believed it took not only physical conditioning to win a match, but mental conditioning, as well. -Dan DiRoma
