Homecoming week, those five small days that couid cause the insanity of any Student Council member, sent SPHS on a Walk on the "Wild Side." Dress up days were particularly humorous this year. From October 21st to the 26th, old ladies (or were they men?), safari lion hunters, and impeccably dressed students passed through the arched hallways. "The participation this year in dressing up was better than any other year. The days were easy enough that you could look around your house and find the things necessary to make a great outfit," stated junior Jennifer Williams. "It takes a lot to dress up Above: Go Devils! Mrs. Figley and her friend cheer on the devils. 14 • Student Life/Dress Up and look a little crazy." It was easy to go crazy with the Dress Up Days available. Students spied with binoculars during Safari Day, dressed to the nines on Best Dressed Day. Opposite Sex Day and Wild Day were the two that would have made visitors wonder about St. Pete High's fine reputation. "Wild Day was my favorite," said junior Meredith Robinson. "I went into my closet, picked the loudest clothes possible, and wore them together. I can't believe the outfits people wore. It was great!" Besides Wild Day, Opposite Sex Day was a big hit, especially among the men. Right: Dressed to a tee, Mindi Sadzeck, Kerri Britt, and Steve Barlow chat during lunch on Best Dressed Day. "I liked Opposite Sex Day because I could impersonate and make fun of the girls," told senior Rich Painter. "I tried, not only to dress up like a girl, but I tried to make fun of their habits, like putting on make-up or shaking my hips when I walked." "I liked to see what outfits the other guys came up with," noted sophomore Ralph Sims, one of the "Old Ladies" and a winner for Opposite Sex Day. "The other guys, and myself, used a lot of imagination in our outfits." A new aspect of the Dress Up Days was ' ' announcing the winners. Each day students and teachers placed votes in the main office for the best dressed. Joseph Terrana and Rachel Steinwender won for Safari Day, while Tony Rizzo and Jennifer Williams won the Best Dressed Day. Ralph Sims and Laminka Williams were the best opposite sex. The Swim Team's serenade in the courtyard along with Doug Scull, Rachel Weldon, and teacher Mrs. Jennifer Rebane were the wildest. Last, but not least, came the traditional Green and White Day. Showing school spirit, students and teachers painted themselves green and white, and added humor and spirit to Homecoming Week. - Kira Scherer
