If so, French Club (Le Cercle Francais) was the way to satisfy your curiosity. This was a club that was absorbed with learning all they could about the French way ofrTlfe. This year's 1 c1uBhad many changes. First, they had a new spo11sor, Miss Sherry Kelley. As It was her first year as sponsor, Miss Kelley was open to suggestions from other French teachers in both IB and regul~r,programs. "Fr~nch Cl4b gives students outside exposure to the French language and culture. It is beneficial because it enriches the classroom experi~nce," expressed Miss Kelley. There was also a big emphasis on Congres (the French competition). This event occurred in the spring of the year and included oral and written contests. "I enjoyed Congres," said Vieng Vongsyprasom. "The highlight of th~ ,h;jp, for me, wa§..a §p~cial dance we all attended as a celebration after the contests." For others, membership in the French Club was a learning experience as well as a social activity. Keri Vizandiou exclaimed, l'French Club gives me insight into the French culture and helps me understand their people." At each club meeting, there was a sample of French food. Special activities incl~J,ded French speakers, movies, and trip to a French restaurant. Le Cercle Fran~ais opened up new horizons for all types of students and gave them the opportunity to benefit from what the club had offer - France! -Tammy Jay , ---- \ , '
