Hard Work and Dedzcation Help Thespians Express Themselves Thespians. This title brought to mind vivid images of the theater, comedy and tragedy, and a recognition of talent. Though these were all aspects of being a member of this illustrious group, it was combined with a great deal of hard work. Being on center stage resulted from a lot of sweat and tears. "It took a lot of dedication and a lot of drive in order to be on stage," commented Thespian president, Adam Landry. Even with numerous productions under his belt, Adam stated that he still felt a slight case of stage fright. "Before the show, I get really nervous, but I use that energy to boost my performance." The Intern(ltJqnal , Honor Society for the Dramatic Arts, which Thespians stands for, is not an easily acquired title. To become a member, an aspiring Thespian must earn a set number of points. Once a Thespian, these points musttbe maintained. Tl;l~re are various ways In which points could be earned. Senior Shannon Greene described the ways in which she earned points, "I attended many, many, many work parties, sold tickets and ''··"''· ->'':·'':::::_;'"'~ :·''''···;-;-:.:::····'· ..... ''t' refreshments. I auditioned for every play and rntlsical, and it finally paid off/' Th~ thrill of finally making it into Thespians was beyond compare, said most Thespians. "I was so ecstatic when my name was announced that night at tl).e final perforwance:of Grease, it took a while for the shock to settle;'' stated Shannon. The benefits of b'eing a Thespian were numerous, , ~nd the e!(p~~t.~tlons were few. All one needed was ''a love of the theater/and a serious commitment to get involved," lit.ated Adam. - Kirsten Faulder What is the most valuable aspect of your Thespian experience? •••••••••• "My Thespian experience will help me with fu– ture acting en– deavors. It will also teach me to learn from my mistakes, and be– come acquainted with others who share my love of the theater.
