Senior Luke Langston had the answer. "You have to be sweet, and have that sweetness come from the heart. Jen Baynard had both those qualities." Senior Matt Mustoe agreed, "Her personality is outstanding; she is a very sweet girl. She's involved in both the school and community.'' Her year as sweetheart began at 7:15 one morning. "I woke up late and threw on a skirt and shirt and walked into my living room only to be greeted by a bunch of guys in a sea of blue and white jerseys," recalled Jen. "I wouldn't trade it for anything. The men of Key are a second family to me." Jen made the comment th there are no real duties involved, that it was more of honor and a privilege.
