Rojans ... Student Council . . . cheerleading ... National Honor Society .. . Mu Alpha Theta . .. What did all these activities have to do with each other and who would be crazy enough to tackle them? Only the two seniors, whose efforts and accomplishments represented the ideal St. Pete High citizen, would take on that many responsibilities. William Packer and Cristie Millan, as Mr. and Miss SPHS, earned the honor these titles bestowed. William got an early jump from the freshman starting blocks as a member of Spectrum and the Varsity Track team. He continued around the track of success as Madam President; Cristie leadstheRojans in excellence. a sophomore as well. He put his energy into a variety of activities ranging from the Academic T earn to the Forensics Club. He also began his three year community involvement as a member of Civitan. Despite his busy schedule, William devoted much of his time to his studies. He was inducted into the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society as a junior. He was also honored as the NHS typical Initiate. The Civinettes thought so much of William's warm personality that they chose him as their hero. William's activities covered a broad spectrum of interests. However, his strongest interest was leadership. He represented student Clowning Around at Club Info Night, William shows Civitan Pride. are opinions as a three year member of Student Rights and Responsibilities . He organized the 1990 Prom as Junior Class President, and he took on the job of Student Council President as a senior. "It's a tremendous amount of work, but I enjoy the position," stated William Packer. "I get so much out of being a part of the school, and seeing the results of a project makes the hard work worth it." Cristie was not a stranger to hard work, either. As a freshman, she learned the ways of the business world in Junior Achievement, and she joined the Spanish Club. Throughout her years at school, she devoted much time to her various activities. Cristie displayed her school spirit and pride as Go Devils! cheers Cristie at a football game. a cheerleader. From the Freshman squad to the Varsity squad, Cristie led the student body in cheers for a wide range of sports. Her energy did not diminish when it came to academics. Cristie was on the Dean's List and Honor Roll from her freshman to her senior years. She was a member of the Spanish Honor Society and the National Honor Society. Cristie, like William, was involved in her community . She became a member of Rojans as a sophomore . She then decided to take a more active role. She was the Vice President as a junior, as well as the Interact District Historian. Cristie chose to continue leading the Rojans as their president. Her task was a great one that Dancing to victory, William's moves earned first place in Goldfever '90. included adding new service projects to enhance the old ones and being the Elks Lodge Representative . "I'm definitely a leader more than a follower, " said Cristie. "I've always been the kind of person who looked at things, such as activities and projects, and tried to see how I could improve them." These two individuals were more than just students a t SPHS. They we re leaders, achie vers, activists, supporters, and friends . They embodied the soul and spirit of the students.
