Under the coaching of Charlie Moore, practice se sions were held daily in the Girls' Gym since the other gym was filled with the older players. Most of the boys had played basketball in gram– mar chool, but tht"f had to learn plays and to better their free shot , jump hot and et shots. Giving trength to the team were forward Ronald Yarbrough, center Larry Gaither, forward Carl King, forward Bill Kibby, guard Pinky Hatcher and Jimmy McCo h and Dickie Blondheim who played both po i– tion . The team wa given a etback when Gary Coulter broke hi leg, but Gary Yoder was an addition to the team near the end of the eason . The completion of the sea on wa the Baker In– vitational Tournament. In this tourney were six team that the Devils had played throughout the year. The fir t opponent CH faced was t. Elmo, whom they had beaten twice before during regular ea on. Again the eighth grader were able to control the backboard and point , and the re ult wa a win on the Blue Imp' record. Lo e for the team followed when they played Arnold and Bibb. ( 217 )
