Competition The eighth grade basketball champ learned well under a enior captain. Isabel Leonard, Peggy llawkin - Capt., Lyra Wadsworth, Jean Daniel, Pat y Lane, Linda Hunter, and Charlotte Boyd. On rainy day the girl ' gym cia e at CH are busy as a bee hive. They do calisthenics and practice many skill uch a running, jumping rope, broad jumping and quare dancing. Aids Play. With hair a flying and glowing face , Miss Redfearn's girls are off to the races. They all agree it's much too hard! But, with determination, they run each yard. The girl ' gym da e at CH don't ha e time to get bored with any one port, for during the year they have many activitie . In the early fall lhey play volleyball. This ea on ends with traditional Play Night and tournament between the champion hip team from each class. With the approach of freezing temperatures, the girls don ''levi " and "high-tops" and begin the tedious task of preparing for the basketball season also culminated by Play ights and tournaments. With rainy February and windy March come square dancing and phy ical fitne te t . A clo er look at the girl ' phy ical education cla e reveal that they are literally being phy ically educated. orne of the tests include throwing softball 100 feel training hard for 50 itup , broad jumping 6 feet, the hundred-yard da h and di tance running event . (The last two are e peciall important since thi is Leap Year.) When the girl have finished their fitne te ts, they are qualified to play oftball and they continue thi until the end of the year when they can either play oftball, volleyball, or jump on the trampoline.
