Waiting Ior help i always amu . ing and e pecially plea ant becau e of the many people congregated there and the friendly atmosphere prevailing in the chool office. Office is center of activity. Our two effici nt ecretarie , frs. Brim and Mr , Dempsey, are quite often een preparing li t of ab entees in order to carry out the routin e of calling their home to tablish a valid reason for ab ence from school. Thi i ju t another part of their daily routine. The office at Columbus High School .is always filled with many people and much confusion, but much is accomplished there. Calling students who are absent is only one of many jobs performed in the busy high school office every day by our two competent secre– taries, Mrs. Lula Brim and Mrs. Barbara Dempsey. Some of their other jobs are giving out aspirins to the many chronic Columbus High School aspirin takers, send– ing out transcripts to the many different colleges of our choice, typing an unceasing amount of letters and othe1 important papers and taking care of the visitors that come to the schooL Mrs. Demsey and Mrs. Brim are always cheerful and always have a kind word for every Columbus High student no matter how tired they are. They are also al– way ready to meet any emergency that may come up. They keep the bell on schedule for specially plan– ned days as well as the average school day. They work all summer so that when we come back to school in the fall everything will be ready for students and teachers. Although reldom realized, their work is one basis for the smoothness and efficiencx of school busines . ( 25 )
