CLASS HISTORY On that eventful day of September, 1938 1 thirteen hearty little pioneers started out across the wilderness or Marengo, hoping to find a new land which would hold excitement and tun for them. Those happy children were: Jack Colson, Quentin Englebert, J~ Jacobs, Don Lunceford, Norma Mantz, Lyle Sherman, Jerry Slaymaker, Mary Snelson, Bud Solbrig, Ben Turner, Helen Wandling, Janet Wandling, and Keith Wilson. In the first grade we were joined by a new trail blazer, Denis Sullivan, and in third grade by Carroll Simpson. OUr fifth lap of the journey was made brighter by the addition of Wynona Kleen and Joyce Lacher. Durtng our first period of learning we left our wagon for a little relaxation when some or us took part in "The Legend of the Snowman•. In 1944 in Junior High, Gene Fields, Janet Stoner, and Betty Trimble joined our party, and in seventh grade Lester Schwertfeger came riding into our midst, followed by Marilyn S~one, Dick Simmons, and Ed Kaderavek in eighth grade. During our Junior High days, many of us were in the pageant, "Americana•. In 1949 we eagerly rushed forward in our big thrill of enter– ing into tha last part of our journey--High School. Here we were joined by nineteen willing travelers: EBther Beer, Esther Cron– baugh, George Hartmann, Lona Hinricks, Don Knipfer, Daryl Lacher, Mary McGivern, Peg McGivern, Rose McGivern, Pat Randolph, Dale Scandridge, sam Slaymaker, Mary Tompkins, Ruby and Roma Trimpe, Howard Tuttle, Norman Voss, Helen Warren, and Adolph Wicbmann. In tenth grade another wagon joined our group, bringing Pat Eastman and Barbara Williams. In eleventh grade, upon nearing the end of our travels, we were joined by Martha Garrett, and in twelfth grade by Kate Puller and Mary Wolter. When we f 1nal.ly came to the end of our journey, which bas been through many tangles and troubles, we, with the help of our able wagon masters, nave found not only the joy and excitement of our happy school days, but have also gained our first taste ot learning.
