3 . .. The Comets struck first with two runs in the bottom of the second inning as Kevin Campbell ripped a homerun over the left field fence. It turned out to be the only runs the Comets would get and it looked as if that was all they would need. The score remained 2-0 as the game entered the seventh inning. Kee of Lansing finally broke Cardinal's spell and erupted for five runs in the seventh. The three run difference was too much for the Comets to overcome. Even with this loss the Comets had an excellent season with a record of 20 wins and 5 losses and were honored with the state runner-up trophy in class 2A. 1.
