Jim Medrano Raul Quiros •Richard Carlquist Although soccer usually falls into the shadow of football, it is an exciting sport growing in popularity at Woot– ton . The team had an impressive sea– son, finishing with an outstanding record of 9-1-2. This high finish was greatly due to the efforts of captains Butch Bernard and Jim McGowan . The games were filled with constant action. Memorable wins against Kennedy, Magruder, RM, Sherwood, and Einstein added to the excitement of the season. The Patriots' only tie was against Walter Johnson in an unbeliev– able game going into overtime. but the team bounced back to beat the Spar– tans in a second game. They remained undefeated until rough setbacks against BCC and Northwood set a dis– heartening note. Even though the Patriots will be los– ing talented seniors, the future still ap– pears bright as most scorers will return next season. 127
