Thomas Wootton High School 1975 Yearbook (Rockville, MD) - Full Access
Dave Schoenly Dave Prokopchak Tom Collins What started out to be a disappointing season for the varsity basketball team ended with a halfway "decent" 8-12 record. The team started the season with a win over Damascus, the first opening victory ever. The Patriots looked good and hopes were high . But as the season continued, the team followed with a discouraging number of losses. The offensive unit displayed fine teamwork, constantly pressuring the opposing defense, although inaccurate shooting hampered their effectiveness. Towards the end of the season, after playing 16 games and only winning 4, the team seemed to pull it all together when they defeated a tough Magruder and went on to again beat Kennedy (in overtime) 82-75, and also Richard Montgomery 58-46. The season ended with an exciting 60-54 win over Bethesda-Chevy Chase, making 4 straight wins for the Patriots. The varsity basketball team will be losing talented and experienced seniors Bob Boyd, Tom Collins, Gene McGuire, Dave Schoenly and Dave Stevenson, but the future looks promising as sophomore standout Dave Prokopchak will be returning next year along with other outstanding underclassmen. 145
