September Terminates Summer Activities "No, go right ten paces, then turn left confused Sophomore. As the leaves turned red and gold, September found Whit– manites trying to settle down after an active summer. Falling quickly back into the routine of life at Whitman, the stu– dents brought the reminders of um.mer '66 with them– from golden tans to polka dot ties and miniskirts straight from London's Carnaby Street. Sophomores encountered hiah school for the first time at their orientation early in September, as SGA officers and cheerleaders previewed the coming year. Returning from a year in orway as an American Field Service exchange student, Bruce Patter on spoke to Juniors about his experiences. Judy Helm discussed the summer she had spent in France and introduced this year's exchange students from Japan and Venezuela. Laura Hummel displays the nonchalant look of the mod generation.
