246 Dance Band Swings With Eight a.m. scholars walking in the vicinity of the breeze– way heard tunes of Whibnan's Dance Band, which practiced in the bandroom on two mornings each week. Featuring selections such as "Dear Heart" and "Blue Moon," the Dance .Band entertained at assemblies and band concerts: Since it was not a recipient of county funds, the Band raised all of its own funds for stands and music by productions including the Pops Concert. Participating in the Northern Virginia Stage Band Contest, Whitman's Dance Band was included in the final competition. Dance band drummer Jeff Bryan supplies the beat for "Moon River."
