Holiday Season Snow was not all that came during the hol,iday season; a variety of activities filled the re t of the December calendar. Cymbals clashed and drums rolled when Miss Monica Mc– Mindes gue t-conducted the annual Pops. Concert Tempo· rarily relieving Mr. Ronald Dobberstein of his position, Miss fcMinde led the orche tra in the Second Prelude by George Ger hwin. The program, narrated by Mr. John Bryson, in· eluded the American Civil War Fantasy by Bilik and a Tijuana Brass Medley. At the end of ovember, Whitman students canvas ed area neiahborhood and apartment buildings durina the Key Club- ponsored Canned Food Drive. As the deadline ap– proached, frantic Seniors and Sophomores rushed to urpass the Junior total, but the Clas of '68 again captured the Golden Pop-Top Award. The entire drive amassed 18,650 can -a record for both Whitman and the County. Cia sroom diversions included trips to the Baltimore Art Mu eum and the Smithsonian Institute. In sociology classes Detective-Lieutenant Bechtol of the Bethe da police force di cu ed the problem of juvenile delinquency. anta' laugh echoed through the library when the faculty and admini tration met for an after-school Chri tmas party. Gathered around the Civinette-decorated Chri tmas tree, teachers exchanaed one-dollar toys which they later donated to the "Toys for Tot "campaian.
