1966 Championship Balmy pring weather ent score of Whitmanites to the tennis court , but to the eight members of the tennis team it wa eriou bu iness. The 1966 var ity te~m saw weeks of practice pay off as they played a perfect eason: nine victories and no lo ses. Encouraged by their initial victory again t orthwood, the team went on to win every meet. Three county high schools-Gaithersburg, Wheaton, and Richard Montaomery-found them elves completely shut out by scores of 9-0, 9-0, and 7-0, respectively. Other school teams were limited to winning no more than three matches in any meet, as Whitman con i tently took at lea t six out of nine matches.
