Stationed in the main office and the guidance offices, the secretaries performed their duties with quiet efficienc . Compiling college tran cript , typing daily bulletin , and filing permanent record card on each student were only a few of the duties which made the ecretaries invaluable as ets to Whitman's admini tration. In the main office Mr.. Mabel Burge s and Mrs. Dori Dimmers were kept bu y by the buzzing switchboard and inquiring students. Mrs. Rosella Smith and Mrs. Edith Dan tedt kept pace with mounting paperwork and inventories. Mrs. Frances Fradin, her base in the guidance office, directed students to their counselors and managed appointment slips and parental phone calls. Operating from the Senior guidance office, Mrs. Virginia Arnold was indispensable to Seniors in ar– ranging college conferences and typing the hundreds of requested tran cripts.
