96 Graduation Is a Time At last . . . graduation night. The 101st graduating class of CHS filed slowly onto Cardinal Field, the processional (Jrovided by the Symphony Band. The 241 robed seniors sat together for the last time as a class and listened to salutatorian Christine Hannon and valedictorian Rhonda Smith deliver their speeches. Class president Roger Trana pre- sented the class gift of an outside bulletin board. Principal Kermit Dennis delivered a speech to the group, the last class that would grad- uate while he presided at CHS. Dr. James M. Burke held the honor of granting the diplomas, the rolled pieces of parchment that rewarded 12 years of hard work. As the graduates filed up to receive their diplomas, their faces expressed mixed emotions. Some felt relief and elation, others felt sadness and confusion.
