The Stages of Literature "All the world's a stage and the people are merely players" - William Shakespeare. English students at C.H.S. take on the note of players as they are swept into the exciting era of numerous lit- erary figures. In their sophomore year, students study the gallantry of Julius Caesar, the unbelievable patience of Job, and the talent of Omar Khayyam. As juniors, students travel through the lives of great novelists such as Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, and Sherwood Anderson. In their senior year, students are confronted with the great works of William Shakespeare, and find themselves reliving the fascin- ating times of the Elizabethan period. C.H.S. English is indeed a challenge, but the knowledge one derives from it becomes of vital importance as the years progress. RIGHT: There's always time for a bit of humor in Mrs. Hayes' class.
