It was in 2001 if I remember correctly. Directly after the pass across the Air Gulf into Mars was discovered. Between the years of 2000 and 2001 there had been a large migration into the unknown re– gions of Mars. I had left with my boss shortly after the route was established. It was on April 1, 2001 that one morning I was surprised to sight land directly above me and a little to the left. It was about noon when I landed. Leaving my boss to guard the plane while I did a little looking around. When I left the United States I was told that I was the only person as yet to leave the home realms and leave for that mysterious planet. So believing as I did you can imagine my surprise when I ran face to face with RICHARD KING who was driving a team of winged horses down the cloudy avenue. He informed me that he had married NIRA BEDKER immediately after finishing school but had failed to make good on the small farm near St. Clair Shores. So he had seized the chance to go to Mars with the first colonization company formed. At present he was doing very nicely raising air peanuts on his altitude farm in Mars, He asked me if I would not go to his home with him, but being situated as I was, I was forced to decline the invitation. My business in Mars was to locate the lost channel into Jell Land, being head secretary for the Jellico Jelitine Jell Company. BOB WEIR, my assistant had left the mother country six months previous to our landing. And as it was, I had not heard a thing from him for six months, Upon inquiring into the matter I was informed by the head man of Cheese Land, commonly known as Head Cheese, that MR. WEIR had not as yet reached this wonderful country. Well, it being past dinner time, I decided to go into a restuarant and partake of some lunch. As I entered the elaborate room I saw standing behind the counter a young man. As I entered he glanced up sharply at me and I likewise at him, then to my surprise a smile lit up his handsome features as he called me by name. Then I came to the conclusion that it could be none other than EARL PARMALEE. I was pleased to see him. His first question was in regard to what I was doing way up in that country. I told him and then I was informed that he, EARL PARMALEE, was running the Shooting Star C afe and had worked up a very good business among the folks on Mars. After lunch I called a young lady, who was now behind the counter, to me and inquired into the location ofHamgravy Valley, where I expected to meet DAVID BROWN who was managing the Applesauce Wells in that district. When the young lady was at my side I was completely dumfounded to recognize her as little JACKIE JAEHNS, who at one time sat across from me in school. She gave me all the infor– mation I needed concerning the whereabouts of Hamgravy Valley. I made my departure and was soon at the plane, where I was greeted by my boss. As I entered, a young lady in black came from the rear stateroom of the plane. My boss introduced her as a young lady who was interested in the disappearance of BOB WEIR. This woman he had met on a certain Friday night dance and, well, you know love is blind. That night we hoisted cables for Hamgravy Valley owned and operated by the Applesauce Mining and Syndicate Company. On arriving at the valley I was surprised to find among the crew a good number of men who were former students of SOUTH LAKE HIGH SCHOOL. They were FRANK FRANSEN, JIM MEDLIN, JOE STACKPOOLE, JOHN MANK, AND JON MIDBO. JOHN MANK has the job of installing cloves and cinnamon in Applesauce as it comes from the mine. After visiting BROWN for a while he asked me up to his home to see his wife. You can imagine what my question was when he told me that. ''DAVEY," I said, "tell another. Who did you marry?" He looked at me with twinkling eyes as he grew red from ear to ear and said, "I took for my wife a young lady who you all knew as---IRENE MAGUET. •• You can very well imagine my feeling when I was told this. We stayed with BROWN and family for the evening and then departed for the town Wahoo where the OOF-GOOF Gelatine Company was located. We traveled for five days ere we came in sight of this wonderful metropolis of Mars. And folks would you believe it, my boss actually refused to leave the wonderful place and go back home with me. While we were having a good time trying to decide whether or not we should make this our home permanently or should make just a short visit, there came a voice directly above us saying, "Say you
