Troy's baseball team of '52 finished the season one game under the even marks. The record wa~ five victories, six defeats. Five of the sixdefeats absorbed by Troy were one-run ballgames that were close all the way. Coach Peyton Goodwin will have four returning lettermen back to form the neucleus for 53's squad. Troy will play a twelve-game schedule this year, meeting each league team twice and out– siders in the other two engagemen~s. Returning lettermen are Ray Cischke, Chuck Green, Harold Feldmann, and Bill Haney. Although not organized Last year, golfers from Troy participated in two matches. Both of these turned out as decisive victories for Troy. The victims were Fitzgerald and Bloomfield Hills High Schools. Coach Bob Nyquist has already scheduled over half a dozen matches. Troy will also take part in a league golf meet later in the year. Returning from last year are Bill Haney, Don Powell, Jim and Mickey Hawley, Dale Paes, and Bonne Char. George Catto and several other younger boys should bolster the team's strength. There will also be a girls' team and a school intramural tournament to decide the boys' and girls' champions. Track is rapidly gaining a prominent position at Troy. Each year Troy sends its thin clads into tougher competition . Last year Troy finished fourth in the league meet and dropped a close dual meet to Clawson. Coach Don Hill now displays the largest track schedule by far ever to be arranged by T.H.S. The Colts will meet Utica and Roseville in a tri-meet, then engage in another three-way affair with Fitzgerald- Avondale. Dual meets are ~cheduled with Clawson and Madison. The big meets of the year will be the Central Michigan relays at 1v1t. Pleasant, the Wayne relays -regionals, and, of course, the all important league meet to wind up the season. 32
