Math, Science Seminars Stimulating Bob Hellner and Mr. Korgen discover an electronical mistake Dr. Lughauer competes with Von Braun. 124 The combination of Saturday Science Club and Mathematics Seminar t h is year produced a beneficial and interest– ing program. Each Saturday students in these programs met for a talk by local scientists and professors on im– portant scientific topics. Following this, the Math Seminar, with junior and senior high divisions, met. These stu– dents learned the essentials of computer programming with a visit to the Uni– versity of Michigan computer lab. In the Saturday Science Club, stu– dents worked on self-initiated projects in the labs, with supervision and assist– ance of teachers in charge. Sections in– cluded physics, supervised by Mr. Rees; chemistry, by Mr. Dasse; electronics, by Mr. Korgen, and biology by Mr. Scruggs. Harry French seems to question Merlin's (Dasse) magic.
