Music adds a note 26 of harmony. "Music, both vocal and instrumental, form an important part in the curricu– lum, to the end that all may grow to know and learn to understand the world's finest music and therefore some– thing of the cultures and ideas that have been prized by men for centuries. "The Music Department offers the following in Instrumental music. The Marching Band performs in the fall, after which the Concert Band and the Pioneer Band are organized. The Strings of the Orchestra rehearse as a unit until after the marching season and then the full Orchestra is formed. "In Choral music we offer the male and girls' chorus as an opportunity for every student, regardless of back– ground, to have a musical experience. The Mixed Ensemble is a semi-select group, and the Cantando Choir is a se– lected group of junior and senior girls. The selected voices of the A Cappella Choir are comprised of junior and senior girls and boys. "Small . Ensembles of the most talented students are chosen from each group and given special opportunities for training and performance. "Music Theory and Music Apprecia– tion are also offered to enrich the cul– tural portion of the academic program." The clear voices of Sue Beach, Pat Ashford, Karen Keene, Mary Ryan, Lynn Barrow, Cheryl Steeb, Carol Schonberger, are harmoniously com– bined in the Cantando Choir.
