Art teaches "Our town, Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a cultural center. We live under the in– te11ectual guidance and shadow of The University of Michigan. Historians have traditionally evaluated a culture by its arts, and so we the Art Department feel that our responsibility is to transmit this awareness to the new generation of leaders. We feel that the ability to think, to see, and to organize an intel– lectual thought visually is important. Important too, is to understand our arts and the cultures of history. These are our teaching goals and guidance for all the students who enter the Fine Arts Laboratories at An~ Arbor High School. We try to make each semester a suc– cessful visual experience for every in– dividual who passes through the doors and studies within our Art Department."
