It takes hours of practice to learn the routine. the Ann Whether the Pioneer teams win or lose the Cheerleaders are always there! These eight peppy varsity cheerleaders are chosen in the spring by a panel of around fifteen judges, made up of both students and faculty. The girls practice twice a week through the summer, often in the early morning hours, perfecting old cheers and working on new ones. Through football season they give their best to add spirit and encouragement to the team, no matter what the weather may be. During the winter sports they are always there "Yelling their hearts out!" -be it a basketball game, swimming meet or a wrestling meet. The captain this year, Judy Smith, did much to keep things organized, and the morale high. The assistant captain, Gail McCormick, was a very reliable Reading from the left, up and down the "A": Fran Farris, Sue Rupert, Pam Hogan, Pat Garrison, Peggy Wallner, Cindy Wild, Katie Murphey.
