Ann Arbor High School 1962 Yearbook (Ann Arbor, MI) - Full Access
Roy Campbell Todd Leonard Varsity team Roy Campbell (30) reaches for ball as Chuck Menefee ( 40) watches Bill Yearnd Chuck Menefee Harold Simons has young talent Having lost nearly all of last year's varsity men, few people expected this years team to do much. Throughout the season the team showed traces of surprisingly good basketball but still had trouble defeating their opponents. Two bright spots were the narrow victories over Ypsi– lanti early in the season and Lansing Eastern. The team was tremendously weakened when the athletic eligibility of Roy Campbell expired. Campbell was one of the best rebounders and he always scored many of the teams points. Fine performances by Chuck Menefee, Harold Sim– ons, Todd Leonard, and next year's captain Bill Yearnd carried the team through the rest of the year. Although the team finished in last place Mr. Klum, the Head basketball coach, is looking forward to next year as a team of experienced players will take the floor. He says, "I antici– pate that next year Ann Arbor High will be one of the top teams in the Six-A League. I base this statement on our experience and continued improvement." 76
