Row Three : Sam Sherman, Mark Adams. Federal aid. The debate squad enjoyed a successful season this year while debating on the proposition, "Re– solved that the Federal Government should equalize educational opportunity by means of grants to the states for public primary and sec– ondary education." The team placed second in the 6-A league, and won three-fourths of all other debates. The squad, under the direction of Mrs. Bea– trice Schultz, consisted of Mark Adams, who was dean, Steve Bauer, John Fitts, Jim Harger, Jamie Harris, Cathy Miller, Sam Sherman, Ron Westrum, and Charlotte Wolter. All members of the team could debate either the affirmative or negative side of the proposition. Debate is valuable not only for the speaking ability that is attained but for the development of logical reasoning, and the ability to think clearly quickly. Everyone on the squad enjoyed this "educational opportunity." Jamie Harris and Mark Adams are actively involved in a debate.
