Qui ll and Scrol l honors journalists. Qui11 and Scroll, international honorary society for high school students active in publications, was organ– ized in 1926 by a group of high school advisors. It has grown until today it includes more than 3,200 chapters located in every state in the Union and in all its terri– tories; and in Australia; Austria, Canada, and Japan. Membership in local chapters of the organization is offered to students who have served a minimum of two years on a school publication, have met certain require– ments for the amount of acceptable work, and have maintained an academic record which puts them in the upper third of their class. This year, in honor of the Chairman of our English department who has constantly worked for school pub– lications and who started our newspaper, "The Optimist" in 1921, we named our chapter of the honorary organiz– ation The Robert Granville Chapter of Quill and Scroll. 1962 Initiates 1961 Quill and Scroll Members Carol Crumley, Barb Brenner, Carol Stadel.
