Frank Cody High School 1968 Yearbook (Detroit, MI) - Full Access
Comets to Finest Season in Years The Comet football team started out the 1967 season with an impressive, 12-8 victory over Cen– tral High School. The Comets then ran smack into one of the best teams in the league when they lost to Mackenzie High by the score of 20-0. The loss inspired Cody to work hard during the next week to get ready to defeat Southwestern, 33-1 This victory renewed the team's confidence caus– ing the squad to beat Cooley in a most exciting game by the score of 8-6. The last regular season game of the year was against Redford, one of the two unbeaten teams on the west side. With seconds remaining in the game Redford scored the crucial goal and made the extra point to edge out Cody in one of the greatest games ever played by a Comet squad. Captains for '67 were Ken Rimer, Steve Mellos, and Marty Bartnick who provided Cody with both brute strength and remarkable agility. They will graduate along with 19 other members of the squad. Seven lettermen will be returning to the squad.
