Frank Cody High School 1968 Yearbook (Detroit, MI) - Full Access
The majorettes led the Cody High School Marching Band to many fine performances during the 1967 football season. The Cody High School Band, led by Mr. Joseph Poniatowski and twenty-five baton-twirling major– ettes, thrilled many a spectator. The band, led by drum major, Dennis Kozara, and head majorettes, Judi Jeromin and Daune Bergen, put on its first performance at the game between Cody and Mackenzie. The next performance was at Cody's first Home– coming in seven years. The members played out– standingly and brought the crowd to its feet with such favorites as "Georgy Girl," "Doctor Zhivago" and "Shadow of Your Smile". On a dark dreary day at Redford High School, the band marched out to "The Happening" and performed "Mister Touchdown." Mr. Poniatowski feels that this year's marching band is one of Cody's finest in the last few years. He also says that the extra time and effort put into marching was worth it. Another fine asset of Cody's sports department is the cheerleader squad. This year's head cheer– leader is Cindy Springer who is assisted by seven hard-working girls. They are sponsored by Miss Sheila Dennis and Miss Lois Hosmer. Many hard hours of work and preparation go into the cheers before they are even put to use. Without these girls, the excitement and enthusiasm of athletic games would not be present. Ken Rimer executes a perfect block which then enabled Mike Skrobe to punt the ball a long distance. Mike Skrobe is a junior and plays halfback. Here we see him break another tackle which enabled him to score. 104
