The library is a 1•ery important part of school life for many individuals. Mr. James Brennan researches for his class while sllldents use reference books. The branches of the fine arts de– partment gives our students a chance to express themselves either graphic– ally or musically. Participation in one or more of these classes develops and furthers a student's culture as well as his potential talent. An important branch of fine arts is Cody's music department which gives students an opportunity to show their accomplishments by presenting cul– tural programs for their school and the surrounding area. Various courses offered by the mu– sic department include those for ad– vanced as well as for beginners. The second important program of– fered to the more graphically inclined students is a group of art courses in drawing and painting, jewelry, crafts and art appreciation. These classes give a student a chance to express himself by creating something which symbolizes how he feels . The music and art courses, together with the library and photography classes, provide ample oportunity for students to express their talents. Gary Caperton on the bassoon and Kathy Stark on the French hom tune up their instruments for a daily practice. Rehearsal is a l'ita/ ingredient in the recipe of a fine band which is a colorful part of school concerts. 25
