Biology, chemistry, physics and physical science are the courses offered to college– bound students. Each student is required to take at least one complete science class during his three-year stay at Cody. A majority of the students, however, take either general or Jab biology. General biology dif– fers from lab in that the students have no actual experience in working with laboratory instruments. Chemistry is a two-hour course, combining lec– ture and laboratory periods. Students learn the properties of the various chemicals through class experiments. A course in physics gives students an opportun– ity to learn about the basic elements such as light, heat and sound, whereas physical science is a com– bination of all the sciences, except biology. All the courses provide experience for those who wish to major in one of the sciences in college.
