'I Hear America Singing!' Tire grand finale "Ant/rem for Spring" was a beautiful but sad moment because it was to be tire last Cody concert for tire seniors graduating in hmt. Tire department told them "We hope that ;ou will use your musical nperience to promote cultural acth•ities." A Mixed Quartette composed of Lori Treaclrler, Deborah Claron, Terry Palin and Ron Dorie sang "If My Songs Had Wings." 52 The Comets shone brighter than ever on the night of Cody's Spring Festival. The choir started the flame glowing with the theme song, "I Hear America Singing." Next the audience heard songs from differ– ent countries. The Girls Glee Club sang European folk songs while the Mixed En– semble entertained the listeners with favorite American songs. Later on, the Mixed Ensemble again sang, giving their talents to one of the most well– known and best-loved songs of today, "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing." Other highlights of the festival were two solos sung by Terry Palin, and "The Medita– tion from Thais" by violin soloist Joan Leuchtmann. There were three solos from Cody's band members: Jack Furari on his saxophone, Tom Adams on his trumpet and Frank Paja with his accordion. Next came the unveiling of Cody's new Yamaha Grand piano. The sounds of "Clair de Lune," played by Donna Cassells filled the auditorium with the special sounds from the new piano. The Concert Band entertained with "Toy Tiger" and a selection from "West Side Story."
