"Bad Seed" a murder thriller written by Maxwell Anderson made its premier on Cody's stage, April 19, under the direction of Mr. Roger Moldovan. The story centers around Rho– da, the only child of Col. and Mrs. Penmark. Rhoda is a virtuous, obedient, delightful child on the surface. However, underneath this charming veneer is a vicious, cold monster who murders for some– times very childish reasons. Mrs. Penmark fears that her child is a "born killer"; she loves her too much to turn her over to the authorities. The play, which is a dramatiza– tion of William March's novel "The Bad Seed," was a Broadway hit in 1954. Players look 011 with mixed emotio11s as Les Smith solemnly covers the corpse of Bob Adamso11, murdered by the hands of sweet, itlllocent Rhoda. ' Mauree11 has started her mischievous games again, this time with her so-called friend, Les Smith . Maureen Paulus gets into character for her starri11g role as a child murderess as she pushes a friend down the stairs. 63
