Bring Elsa to America! Cody's America Field Service is one of the most intresting clubs in existence. Every other Monday night in Room 106 one may find a sizable group of students gathered together, exchanging plans I and ideas on fund-raising projects. The goal of the A.F.S. is to raise $750.00 every year through bake sales, the penny brigade, the Bermuda Bounce, bagel sales and other projects. This money is then used to bring an exchange stu– dent here to stay for a year. This year's exchange student is Elsa Chacon from Cuenca, Ecuador. Elsa loves America and thinks it great fun but finds the fast pace of Ameri– can life tiring at times. How we spend our free time here in America is much different from Ecua– dor. Here we have skating, tobaggoning, and snow– mobiling. In Ecuador, fun is had mainly at home parties, which are held quite often. In June, when Elsa returns home, we are going to miss her, but one thing will remain here with us, the knowledge that we sent Elsa home Americanized. _, ___ _...,- "'!" A new experience for Elsa was her sewing class. Here in America Elsa has learned how to sew quite efficiently. For two days Elsa taught Iter own Spanish 3 class. She thoroughly enjoyed hearing the various accents of her students. Dancing Spanish-style is one of Elsa's favorite pastimes. She enjoys practicing her dancing in her American home. 71
