The 1967 edition of the Comet baseball squad finished the season with a 7-3 won-lost record, defeat– ing Cooley, Western, Southwestern, Northwestern, Murray Wright, Mac– kenzie and Ford. Braving early spring cold weather, the Comets displayed an exciting brand of baseball in all aspects of the game. Seniors Ken Katona, Nick Simkins, Craig Van Dam and Tim Sochocki contributed fine seasons and leave behind five other fielders who will provide Cody with an experienced team in 1968. Craig Van Dam, Cody's Most Val– uable Athlete during the 1967 sea– son, furnished Cody with top-notch pitching which will be needed in the team's "rebuilding" program. Coach Cass Casucci is the man who has coached the team success– fully for the last few seasons. Ron Skorsgord, student manager, cleans the bats during d muddy game. Ron is an important part of the Comets' baseball personnel during practice and games. ' .) Although players and coaches are important, what is a baseball team without a team manager, to take care of the players' things, to clean their bats and spikes? That is what Ron Skarsgard has done this year. The team appreciates this boy very much for the work he has done to help them. The coach cleans off Rick Primeau's spikes while Tim Sochocki stands waiting his turn. Clean spikes are an important part of a baseball player's outfit. 93
