But We Won a Few The 1967-1968 edition of the Comet basketball team started out with a close hard-fought game between Cooley and Cody where the Comets lost by the score of 89-87. The next game proved to be a victorious one for Cody when they beat Mackenzie by the score of 81-78. Then the Comets went winless for ·the next three games until they beat Henry Ford by the score of 68 to 59. Four more defeats followed until Cody ran up against Henry Ford again. This time the Comets beat their opponents by the score of 60 to 51. There were many stand-outs on this year's team; three or four people proved to be most effective. They were Bill Mul– lins, Jim Pennebaker, Larry Fitzpatrick and Kass Butkis. Coach Cass Cassucci feels that this year's team could have done better but that they had a few bad breaks which cost them some of their games. Kass Butkis is a senior and always seems to be found where the action is. Two Comet players, Larry Fitzpat– rick and Kass Butkis, watch the backboards as they wait for a re– bound in a game against Mackenzie. RESERVE BASKETBALL Front Row: AI Szubecjak, Jim Ferrara, Bill Johnson, Doug Banks. Second Row: Cleon Gulliam (Coach), Ron Jackson, Melvin Jackson, Rick Des– jordin, Jerry Knop.
