Gene Schilling placed first in the state showing his outstanding ability in jumping. The fine jumping season was due to the excellent coaching of ex– Olympicjumper, Joe Nowak. The slalom events were held on the first day of competition at Mont du lac in Duluth. Despite spill taken by the slalom team the Jacks came back the next day through jumping and cross-country to place fourth. All of the slalom members are underclass– men and will be returning as an experienced team. Mike Marciniak and assistant Dave Sylvester coached a young cross-country team this year. All of them will be back next year with the exception of enior Rick Bradford who was unable to ski thi eason because of illness.
