ral J 1 The 1961 season opened with a cast of twenty-six. Faces of those who had joined the cast since its closing at the end of last season were Frank McBrayer, Roger McGaugh, Lynn Leasure and Donna Medley. Missing were Royce Berry, Elizabeth Downing, Jimmy Rogers, and Faye Horn. Sponsors of this year's show were Mrs. Ann Jacobs and Miss adine Malan. Class officers were elected as follows: Pres., Sheryl Black; Vice-Pres ., James McGaugh; Sec., Harold Southwick; Treas., Linda Nolker; Reporter, Jirh Tanner. Junior footballplayers for the season were Duold Bush, Jim Tanner, Harold Southwick, Frank McBrayer, Louie Mellon, and Eddie Bedore. Basketball players were Harold Southwick, Ernie Hurt and Edd Weissenbach. Stella Rogers and Jane Hill were the junior announcers in red and white. Special features were ·sheryl Black as Homecoming Queen candidate, the "We've Got'em Scared" Homecoming float, Stella Rogers as Courtwarming Queen candidate, Jane Hill as Courtwarming candidate, Edd Weissenbachas Courtwarming King candidate, Sheryl Black reigning as Courtwarming Queen, and the Junior-Senior Prom held at the Sheraton-Elms Hotel. Jane Hill, twirler, helped to lead the LHS 1arching Band through the Homecoming activities. Junior members participating in track were Edd Weissenbach, Darold Bush, Harold Southwick, Louie Mellon, Jim Tanner, and Frank McBrayer. During the season only one new star, Ann King, came to join our ·cast; but several members left. Those leaving were Ernie Hurt, W.J. Adams, Eddie Bedore, Roger McGaugh, 1ary Groshong, Lynn Leasure and Donna Medley. Again the great network came to a standstill for the summer months. The 1962 season opens with the smallest cast yet- - twenty - two stars. Additions this year are Margaret Stewart, 1errill Leasure, Kenneth orris, Janice Adams, and Jeanie Farmer. Those not returning are Edith Parker and Stella Rogers. Spon– sors are Mr. Phil Dorth and Mr. Paul Rogers. Class officers are: Pres. , Doyle Wyatt; Vice-Pres., Jane Hill; Sec ., Sheryl Black; Treas., Ann King. Senior football players are Darold Bush, Merrill Leasure, Frank McBrayer, Louie Mellon, Harold Southwick, and Kenneth Norris; with special recognition going to Oarold Bush, Harold Southwick, and Kenneth orris. Basketball players are Kenneth orris, Harold Southwick, and Edd Weissenbach. Special features this season include Ann King as Homecoming Queen candidate, and the "We'll Wreck 'em" float . ow, al – though this season is hardly half over, 1 must lay down my pen in order to meet the publisher's deadline. There are still many events waiting for this season's show. There is courtwarming, track, the senior play, the prom, the trip and graduation. So far this season two stars, Wanda Gulley and Margaret Stewart, have resigned. Soon it will be time for another vacation. This vacation, however, will be different from all previous ones. This vacation will end the work of these bright young stars on the LHS network. Looking back over the last four years; they realize how many· friends they have made at Lawson High School, and the memories spent here will never be forgotten. Copyright January 2, 1963 7
