ROTC, With Honor The Del Norte Junior Air Force ROTC has accomplished much under the leadership of Cadet Captain Darlene Padilla and Cadet Captain Deputy Commander Huron Robin– son. ROTC competed in many drill meets and color guards competitions throughout the year. Many of these took place out of town such as in Roswell, El Paso, AF Academy, Santa Fe and Amarillo. They competed primarily against teams from New Mexico, Texas, Ar– izona, and Colorado. The ROTC cadets com– pete for approximately 12 awards presented by civic/military organizations. Cadets also are awarded ribbons for their participation in ac– tivities. The major objectives of ROTC were to pre– pare students to become good citizens by de– veloping scholarship, leadership and charac– ter by allowing students to lead and com– mand. The goal was to give the members a sense of belonging and a chance to participate on sports teams, drill teams, color guard, and in special activities. The ROTC members welcome anyone who wants to join. Meetings were held after school and during regular classes.
