VICA's Working Class Teens The Vocational Industrial Club of America has been an active part of Del Norte for the past twenty-three years. It is a big part of many students' lives. VICA helps to develop their leadership skills through education, vocational, civ– ic, and some social activities. The stu– dents of VICA have grown a deeper re- spect for the working class, and have the ability to plan as a group, and or– ganize and ' --.. out projects. Stu– dents are taught to be an employee that is not only respected by the em– ployer but respects the employer, as well as their co-workers. VICA shows the students a way to get, advance, and keep a good job, and also teaches them ways to manage, save, and use the money they earn. Along with VICA is ICT, which stands for Industrial Cooperative Training. Students that are involved in ICT, are involved in different part– time jobs, in trades and health oc– cupations. VICA conducts contests on the Local, State, and National levels in which students demonstrate the occupational and leadership skills they are learning. As students are more and more forced into the working world, at younger and younger ages VICA has become and will further need to be a big part in the lives of those who have become the teenage working-class.
